Gazprom – RusVelo strives to clinch a podium at Settimana Coppi e Bartali
This week 22-25 of March Gazprom — RusVelo will compete in the Italian stage race Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali.
The Italian race with a 2.1 UCI category was founded in 1984, this year it will be the 33rd edition. In 1999 the race was named after the legendary Italian riders Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali, which makes it highly desired and special to win for the Italian riders.
The Russian cycling team has good memories of this race, as two years ago in 2016 riders of Gazprom – RusVelo took over two stage-victories and Sergey Firsanov was the overall winner. For Ildar Arslanov the upcoming Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali will be the first start in the season 2018, that’s what he said: “I am glad to finally return to the competitions! In the beginning of this year I had a problem with my knee, not a serious injury, but still I wasn’t able to train in full and it feels good to be back. At the moment everything is fine, let’s see how it will go during the race, hopefully without the pain. We have a strong line-up and good chances for clinching a podium and competing for the top places in the GC”.
Gazprom — RusVelo line-up: Ildar Arslanov, Igor Boev, Sergey Firsanov, Artem Nych, Evgeny Kobernyak, Nikolay Cherkasov, Alexander Foliforov.
