After the first half-stage of 72,8 kilometres on the final racing day Alexander Vlasov became the race leader. The Russian was starting the evening’s ITT in the leader’s pink jersey and that did not affect his confidence. That’s what Alexander said about his victory: “That’s a great feeling to win at such an incredible and tough race. I had no doubt that I am able to do it, because our team made everything possible for this victory and I was in great shape. I am more than happy that for the second year in a row the victory at Giro d’Italia U23 goes to a Russian rider. This demonstrates that we are able to compete on the highest level and confront the strongest teams. I want to thank Gazprom — RusVelo and my teammates, who supported me throughout the whole race!”
