Denis Dmitriev wins bronze in sprint race at the World Championships in London

Another great satisfaction at the Uci Track Cycling World Championships in London for a rider of Gazprom-RusVelo: Denis Dmitriev wins bronze medal in the speed race. Dmitriev had already won silver medal a year ago in the World Cup held in France, where he had finished behind french Gregory Bauge.

On the track in London, Dmitriev faced in the preliminary stages the german rider Maximilian Levy, the new zealander Sam Webster, the british Callum Skinner, the australian Matthew Glattser and polish Damian Zielinski. After hard-fought challenges, conducted with great determination, Dmitriev has obteined an excellent third place, behind the british Jason Kenny and the australian Matthew Glaetzer.

Every prediction has been impossible on the race eve: all athletes presented themselves appointment in very good shape conditions. «Before the race, it was not easy to identify the favorite», Dmitriev explained. «Although some regrets, third place is a satisfactory result. It was hard to handle the pressure of competition and the ambition of a rainbow jersey. But above all, the most important thing is that I still want to win».

This World has represented the last major competition before the Olympic Games in Rio.
