Alexey Tsatevich made it top ten on the seventh stage of Giro d’Italia

Gazprom – RusVelo riders were active from the very beginning of the stage. Dmitry Kozonchuk managed to breakaway with two other contenders on the first kilometers, together they carved out an advantage of 4 minutes. Dmitry also took the maximum points on the two intermediate sprints. The peloton chased the escapees 18 kilometers before the finish-line leaving the finale for the sprinters to demonstrate their skills.

On the last kilometers Alexey Tsatevich sat on a good position in front. With what’s left from his strength Alexey rode selflessly and finished on the 9th place. Caleb Ewan (Orica – Scott) took over the stage victory.

“Today I felt good during the whole stage. We showed a decent teamwork and in the final kilometers were among top 15 riders in front. Unfortunately Ivan Savitskiy had a mechanical problem and couldn’t compete in the final sprint. At the last turn I needed to slow down not to trigger a crash with one of the Dimension Data riders and therefore lost my chance to compete for the highest places. Looking forward to the following stages. We never give up and will fight till the end!” – Tsatevich said after the finish.
